ESA apparently renewed without assessment was created by Rainbowlight
Towards the end of last year the DWP confirmed by phone that my ESA award was due for review in April this year. It is four years since the last assessment as it got rolled over during the backlog.

As I haven't received the form we checked to see whether it had been sent out. Instead the review date is now apparently April 2019. The call centre person said this probably meant that medical services had decided they didn't need any more info to make a decision.

I have severe ME and am in the middle of the DLA to PIP process, so I guess if they can see/share it all electronically there is current info on the system anyway.

My questions are, does this extension without assessment sound likely? Will there be a medical report even without an ESA50? If so, what should I ask for to get a copy? And especially, will my claim end if in fact the person gave me the wrong info and I still don't get a claim form before the review date?

Many thanks,
Rainbowlight

It's our understanding that the deferments that were done in 2014 and 2015 are no longer being done so if the next reassessment date has been moved back by a couple of years then it must be because of a new Decision, they do not have to contact the claimant to do this if they believe that they have sufficient information already, although they may have contacted your GP.

If a new Decision has been made then there should still be an assessment report which you can request from the DWP office dealing with your claim, it's called an ESA85A and if they contacted your GP it will have been on an ESA113.
