Need a little advice. I was just sent a form for SDP because I was reassessed for PIP. I got the Standard rate care and High rate Mobility. I'm also getting ESA in the support group.

However I have a friend who also gets SDP and is on ESA Support group and PIP Standard rate Mobility and High Rate Care so gets the SDP.
I care for my friend with his mental health issues and he cares for me with my physical disabilities...neither of us claim any carers allowances...
We both rent a home 80m from each other I am in a ground floor flat and my friend in a 1st floor flat. I cannot visit my friend because I can't get up the 13 stairs.
My friend is at my home daily and sometimes stays over when I am ill.
We decided just before my PIP assessment to apply for a 2 bedroomed bungalow and share it. We are not a same sex couple just mates. Would we be entitled to our own SDP or would we lose it?

You need to be both living alone or considered to be living alone.

You may be considered to be living alone if the tenancy on the new house meets certain criteria, basically you both need your own rent books and must only share certain rooms such as the kitchen add bathroom (this is not a complete list).

You can also be considered as living alone if all of the people you live with also receiving a qualifying benefit e.g. PIP Daily Living.

So in simple terms you would both be considered as living alone due to your current PIP awards, but it might be worth considering how you might arrange your tenancy, as it will only take one of you to lose your PIP DL for both of you to lose the SDP.
