PIP home assessment was created by Jenna
Hello
I had a life award of DLA and have a home assessment for PIP this week. I am 66 and as most of you feel disgusted at this change.
Can you please tell me what I should expect to happen at this interview. Do they look around your home or make you do anything. I am housebound and in a wheelchair and have nobody to support me over this.
All advice would be most welcome
Thank you
Regards

There's a section at the back of the PIP Claim guide that covers the assessment and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Hello there,

Really sorry to hear you're going through this - I had similar fears and also no-one to help. It feels especially cruel being the age you are. I'm afraid I cannot offer any advice regarding your age/eligibility to a pension, etc, but I want to offer you some PIP light at the end of the tunnel.

I have to say, that my PIP assessment went really, really well. The lady who came was very nice and made it more of a chat, bringing in the form's questions as we went along and clarifying anything she perhaps found unclear. I am also a wheelchair user and the only physical thing she asked me to do was lift up both my arms (I can't remember doing anything else or being asked to). She also asked about/had a quick glance at the other devices I use. All that worry and sleepless nights - I can't tell you what a relief it was.

Obviously, I know that each assessor is different but I hope that, from my experience, you can see that they are not all out to make it difficult for you. ESA, however, is a different matter...
