ended esa - still getting payments

Hi

I wrote to the DWP last month to end my ESA claim. I used the address on the last letter from the DWP regarding ESA. I got a certificate of posting.

I received a payment which I expected as paid in arrears. Two weeks later I received another full payment. I wrote again to DWP explaining I had previously written to them to close my claim.

I have just checked my bank statement and two weeks later I have received another full payment!

I have put all the money to one side ready to repay it. My question is:

Is it ok to just wait until DWP finally act on my letters and realise I have closed my claim?

I really do not want to phone them as I have had many problems that way. Even denying I had phoned them.

I was SO pleased to end my claim and not have to deal with the stress of the DWP again. However here I am weeks later still having to deal with them.

Many thanks

Did you send the letters using a Tracked post so that you have proof of delivery?

It can take a while for post to get to the right department but I would have expected them to have received it by now.

I'm afraid the simplest solution if for you to ring, but I can understand that if this is difficult for you, you can have someone phone on your behalf if that would be easier, although you will still need to be present.

Thanks Gordon.

I have a certificate of posting for the first letter but the second letter i just posted. I've written another one today detailing the dates of the previoys two letters. I will take this oneto the post office and send it 'ti be signed for'.

Do you think this is ok? I dont want to do anything which could result in me being accussed of any wrongdoing.

Thank you

Sorry forgot to ask should the DWP send me a P45 for the end of my ESA claim?

It should but I would not leave it there, you really need to make sure that your claim is closed properly.
