PIP new motability changes was created by Alex
Hello,

My PIP is currently being reviewed. I wasn't awarded mobility component of PIP last year but now I am housebound and my GP has requested a home appointment for an assessment, is it possible with the changes coming into force from March to get mobility even standard or enhanced for mental health problems- psychological distress?

I struggle with OCD, anxiety, and Borderline Personality Disorder.

I don't want to fight for something if the descriptors have changed...

I can't go out because of my OCD and anxieties. Is the OCD cause different to psychological distress descriptor they recently changed?

Thanks.

A Standard award for Mobility is perfectly possible with mental health problems, but the intention of the new Descriptors is that an Enhanced award will only be possible if you are also able to score points for the Moving Around activity.

There seems to be considerable confusion among members about what the Descriptors said, what the UTT Decision actually meant and what the new Descriptors imply.

Based on your post, which talks about your going out, you are assessing yourself as meeting Descriptor (e) which has not been changed and was not directly affected by the UTT Decision. This scores 10 points.
