Hi I have just joined!
I suffer 2 chronic conditions, Leukocytoclastic Vasculitus & Polyarthralagia. 2 years ago I applied for ESA & PIP & was turned down on appeal, all very stressful & exhausting, even though unwell I gained employment which was as near to suitable for me & my condition at the time. Things have however deteriorated including mental health & I have just worked my notice & am about to visit my GP later today to discuss being signed off ( she did want to do this on 1 of my last visits) but felt I was under too much pressure at work, daft I know) :(
I am going to claim ESA if possible and after failure before wanted any help available from the start of the process, my condition is variable & I feel my honesty backfired on me as I cannot move around/walk any distance without discomfort during an active flare, but if I manage my situation myself I can try to avoid the active flares, therefore some days are better than others, I feel I was judged on my 'better days' . With my GP support I was rehoused to more suitable accommodation due to my condition but this didn't help either.

Any advice would be appreciated as I am dreading being in the stressful claiming process again.
TIA

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If your last claim for ESA resulted in a Fit for Work Decision then you can only make a new claim for ESA is you can show that the conditions used for your previous claim have deteriorated or that you have a new condition, such that you would reasonably be expected to receive an award this time, even then the DWP can withhold payment of the ESA Assessment rate until you have attended an assessment.

You need to speak to your GP to make sure that the Fit Note they issue makes it clear that you meet one or both of these requirements.

Have a look at our ESA Claim guides for the criteria you will be required to meet for an award.
