Council tax exemptions for PIP was created by Mimgable
Hi
I am not sure if this is the right section for this.

After years on DLA and PIP, I only found this out recently, and it may vary with councils

Where I live you can get an exemption for council tax if you have any 'severe and enduring' mental health condition and are in receipt of PIP, and some of the other disability awards.

I had never applied as the blurb on their form in one place mentioned cognitive impairment, which to me meant learning disability since I may have Bipolar but my intellect is not impaired.

But apparently it was just badly worded and it covers the severe and enduring mental health conditions without being learning disabled. So I was awarded it. 100% exemption if living alone, discounted if living with others.

They also backdated it to the start date of my award, nearly two years ago!

So worth checking out with your council if you have not claimed this before.

Thank you for this information, Council Tax send me the form 6 weeks ago, but I was thrown by learning difficulties. I have a doctors appointment Monday and will ask her to fill form.

Thank you again
