PIP - Do they contact GP? was created by Spaceman
I've recently had to apply for PIP (currently receving DLA) and I had to get my Mum to phone them for me but she had to pass me the phone so that they could ask me for permission to contact my GP. They said I didn't have to give permission but it may affect my claim if I refused (or something like that) so I said yes but I wonder if they will contact my GP, because whenever I've had to apply for ESA or DLA in the past I'm sure I've had to gather all the medical evidence and send it off? If they will be writing to them, should I make an appointment to see him to make sure he's prepared to answer their questions?
They also asked me to confirm that the information I'd given was correct, which was a bit strange as I hadn't given them any information, my Mum did all that and I don't know what they asked her so I was hardly in a position to say if she'd accurately answered their questions but I felt I had to say yes anyway.

Our experience on the forum is that the Assessment Providers rarely contact the claimants medical contacts, so our recommendation is that you include any medical evidence that you want to be considered with your PIP2, that way you can also integrate it into your answers.
