Recording a PIP Assessment was created by Snowdrop
Hi

I'm trying to find out if anyone has managed to recorded their PIP Assessment.

If so, does anyone have any ideas on equipment? I know it needs to be either tape recorder or CD. I am having trouble finding portable equipment that will make a dual recording.

I've looked online but it's very confusing. If anyone has managed a dual recording knowing what they used and where they found it would be very helpful.

Is there a resistance to applicants making a recording and will it hold up applications? I'm in the process of transferring from DLA to PIP and it is causing a lot of problems.

Thank you with fingers crossed

You do mot need to make a "dual" recording, you need to be able to make two simultaneous recordings, this is very different. You can use two portable cassette recorders.

The only thing that might delay an assessment is if they have problems finding an assessor willing to be recorded.

Hello Snowdrop,
I recorded my assessment using two separate tape recorders I bought via Amazon. Give yourself plenty of time if you do this: one of my machines was faulty and I had to send it back. Luckily I had time to get a replacement. Also, watch you do not press the buttons to start the recordings yourself. My assessor used this against me to say I must be able to prepare and cook a meal using knives as my manual grip was okay. You cannot use any recordings in a tribunal. They are for your reference only. TBH if you have a witness with you (which I would always recommend) then their notes are probably just as helpful. You cannot use recordings to prove any "lies" in court. The panel will not be interested.

This is not actually the case, it is entirely at the discretion of the panel whether they allow a recording, even one made covertly to be allowed as evidence, they just don't do it very often.

I will be accompanying my sister to her PIPassessment.

You can now purchase usb voice recorders, but obviously it would mean taking a laptop into the assessment. does anyone know if this is acceptable?

Thanks

You cannot make a digital recording it must be directly to tape or CD.
