benefits and children claiming was created by onestep
Hi, not really related to my ongoing topic so started a new one.
I'm on full housing benefit/ council tax benefit and get ESA SG and PIP standard daily living. My Stepson who is 19 has recently been diagnosed with severe anxiety and depression and has been given the go ahead from the GP to apply for ESA. My question is how will his claim effect my claim with regard to all the benefits I receive on behalf of me and my family?

It won't effect your ESA or PIP as he is not part of your household for these benefits.

If he is living with you then I assume your HB and CT is already adjusted for this, if there are any changes to these due to his claim then I would expect them to be positive ones.

He is not counted as being part of your household for the purposes of ESA, so the two claims would be completely separate.

No it does not make a difference, he is an adult and financially independent of you.
