Does this apply for housing and council tax benefit with him living under our roof? do we need to notify the council of his change in circumstance?

I am in the process of starting to fill in my stepson's ESA 50 form, the problem I have is that his diagnosis is in the very early stages. He has a sick note (2 months) on the grounds of anxiety, depression and acrophobia and has been put in touch with the community mental health team and referred for tests to see if he appears on the Autism/Asperger's spectrum. The problem is he is unlikely to have seen any of these professionals by the date the forms need to be returned by and the doctors knowledge of him and his condition is limited. I can get a letter of support from a college councillor but that is all at this stage I can provide as far as medical evidence goes. Can I submit evidence for him later and do I need to address the intent to do this in this form? Also if I want to push for a home visit is it now when returning this form I need to send in a letter from the GP asking for one?

Onestep

The lack of a diagnosis will definitely not help his claim, you can send in evidence after you have returned the ESA50 up to and including the day of any assessment that he has.

If you want a home visit then you will need his GP to write to Maximus to explain why he cannot attend at their offices.

Make sure that you use the current ESA Claim guide to help you complete the ESA50.

So a letter from the GP requesting a home visit returned with the ESA50 form will not suffice for a home visit? The GP now has to write directly to Maximus?

Sorry onestep, I answered thinking you were someone else that I was already 'talking' to!

It is Maximus who will decide whether a home visit can be arranged, I assume that is why Gordon specifically mentioned them.

I don't know whether it really matters whether you send in the letter with your ESA50 or send it separately to Maximus.
