So the last assessment approaching retirement is the one that is all important in this instance. If standard rate only is applicable then this is what is carried into retirement. If however between assessment and retirement, mobility deteriorated such that enhanced rate would be reasonably be awarded, a change of circumstance could be submitted, prior to retirement, albeit with a full reassessment, and then the resulting award if at the enhanced rate would then be carried forward, even if the decision/ appeal result occured post retirement age ?

Yes the deterioration must be reported before they reach 65.

Let me try and clear this up.
At the age of 64 I applied for PIP.
I was not in receipt of DLA.
So this was not a case or transfering from one benefit to the other.

My health began to deteriate. I have several progressive health problems, including COPD, Type 2 diabetes, osteo arthritis, spinal problems, plantir faciitis, to name only some of the issues.
PIP was the only option for me. Thankfully it was awarded before I turned 65.

Thanks
