Hi All

My husband who will be 65 this year has today received a letter with a PIP review form enclosed. Letter dated 23rd Feb, form has to be returned by 23rd March. They are not giving much time to fill in and return the form. I work full time and also care for my husband as well as look after the home. Sorry for the rant but the time frame is unfair. Nine days to receive a form from them is ridiculous.

Have any of you any experience as to the length of time the reviews are taking?

Not sure I can cope with the stress of going through all this again. At last renewal hubby was refused PIP both care and mobility. Refused again at mandatory reconsideration, I lodged an appeal, finally after 10 months received tribunal date. Week before tribunal date without them receiving any further evidence from me, called out of the blue to say they had received additional information and awarded him enhance mobility and basic care. (The same as he had been on previously). Hubby had an IIB assessment which I think they used the evidence from this report to make the decision. Would this make sense?

Hubby suffers from stage 4 COPD, Spinal cord compression both top and bottom of spine. Sciatica

On a positive note the Occupational Therapist is already booked to visit him on Tuesday so her report will hopefully help.

Thanks
Jillian

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

You can ask for a two week extension if you are having problems completing and returning the form on time.

Based on what we are seeing in the forum we would expect you to receive a letter about an appointment 2-3 weeks after you return the form for an assessment two weeks later, so 4-5 weeks in total.

Please have a look at our PIP Claim guide on the following link to help you complete the PIP2 form. In particular have a good read of the section on "reliably".

Hi Jill
Be aware of how retirement age impacts on the mobility component

Due to his age I did expect a review this year. As he had originally been awarded it until Feb 18.
