Claiming Housing Benefit retroactively was created by moutainsandoceans
Hi,

I am on ESA but am likely to be moved onto JSA in the next month.

Whichever I remain on or am put onto, can I claim Housing Benefit in the below context?

I started on ESA last year.

I moved into a private studio flat just before.

I was moved out of a abusive household my my parent as they wanted me out of that environment. So they paid upfront rent to keep me set for a year, and because no landlord nearby would've letted to me otherwise.

Now that the rent is covered, but my parent is now out of pocket and not managing, can I claim HB in order to reimburse this gurantor? Especially if I'm on JSA and not ESA in the next month?

I'm afraid we do not advise on Housing Benefit, get local advice by doing an internet search for "welfare advice" with you postcode, town or county.
