hello
today I applied for an MR. I also made a new claim for esa but have to claim universal credit. I have an interview of Friday at job centre plus. I have been asked to bring my fit note.
is this just part of the new rules that I have to attend an interview. online they set up an account with a to do list and they mention I will have a work coach and will have certain steps to get my money. this is worrying me as it sounds too much like jsa.
my 2nd question is at the advice centre I was told they don't usually let ppl claim esa again after its been stopped.
I am in 2 minds to carry on with this claim, I would have called and asked them these questions but I don't trust them.

If you are in a Universal Credit full service area, then it would be correct that you have to claim UC, you will then be assessed for ESA under UC..
The assessment criteria are the same between ESA under UC and what is now called old ESA.
If you have been found Fit for Work, then you could not make a new claim for ESA unless you had a new condition or your existing ones had deteriorated such that you would now reasonably receive an award.
However, as yo failed to attend an assessment you are only being treated as Fit for Work, although this sounds the same it is actually different and means that you can make a new application for ESA.
The ESA Claim guide due to mental health issues has details of ESA under UC.
