Hi and thank you in advance for your help.

I first claimed pip in September 2014 for mental health issues. I was very lucky and awarded high care with no medical. At the time I was probably entitled to mobility, but I was too ill to appeal, also I was so relieved not to have a medical,I didn't do anything about it.

I received my pip renewal form in January, which I filled up, with the fantastic help of this forum, submitted all doctors, psychiatric letters etc. I also asked them to take into account my esa medical from last May, it lasted all of 7 minutes, I was lucky to be placed in support group again.

Today, I received a letttee from pip, " we need some more information before we can progress your claim for Oersonal Independence.

The question they are asking. Please tell us when you started having problems with getting around. Tell us the exact date. If you can't remember you must tell us roughly when this was.i also have to sign that information is correct.

What would be the best thing to answer honestly 2014,or or do a date a year after? Sorry for babbling but I am confused as I suffered from severe anxiety back then as well. Also I think you are meant to tell them of any changes and I just couldn't cope with the stress of ringing them.

Also, it is probably wishful thinking on my behalf, but do you think the dwp are doing a paper assessment?

Sorry for long message and I want to say a big thank you for all the help you give me and all the others who need it.

Thanks Mick

If it is the DWP that are contacting you then it is likely that a paper assessment has been done, they send your PIP2 straight to the Assessment Provider and take no further part in the process until they receive your file back from them.

I suspect they are trying to determine when an award should be made from. As you did not challenge the existing award I don't think that you can reply with a date before September 2014.

Did you qualify for the ESA SG due to Mobility activity? If you did then this would mean that it was accepted that your walking was limited to less than 50m in May 2016.

If you are hoping to show that your walking is limited to 20m or less then you will have to pick your own date, as the ESA may not have indicated this.

Gordon,

Thank you for your reply. Sorry I didn't make myself clear.... I am able to walk, my health issues are all mental health. I suffer from chronic severe depression, ptsd, severe anxiety and panic attacks.

I am one of the people who would ( probably with a question mark), be entitled to Mobility according to tribunal rules, but would loose out after the 16th March.

My problems were all in evidence submitted in 2014, but have deteriorated a lot since. I had very bad panic attack in esa assessment, that's why it lasted only 7 mins, I think they must have got the report. My memory is so muddled with everything, I can't give exact dates, I think I will just put down 2015.

It would be fantastic if it was a paper review, I see my psychiatrist weekly and he has noticed a rapid deterioration over the last 2 months.

Many thanks again

Sorry Gordon,

I thought that the award would be from the date of the decision. This is an pip review form.

My current pip ends in Jan 2018, it is been assessed a year early, this is very stupid of me, but would they backdate the mobility? If they do decide to give it to me?

Thanks again for all your help

There is also a requirement for you to have suffered with a problem for a minimum of three months.

I can't advise you what date you need to use, if your conditions have changed then you need to think about when the change significantly impacted on you.

Sorry my initial though t was that you had initiated the review, but if it was the DWP then it will apply from when they make the Decision, subject to the three month rule.
