Had my PIP assessment today; not a happy experience. Frosty and unfriendly assessor with no empathy who was 20 minutes late. Some really foolish questions, the best one being had I gone to hospital to have my mastectomy and reconstruction! Where did she think I'd gone, the local pub? As I walk (badly) with crutches due to MS, I refused to do the standing on one foot, bending, crouching, leaning forward nonsense as I knew I would fall. Was still made to explain myself even though one would have thought it was fairly obvious. To cap it off when the assessment was over and I was asked if I had any questions, I asked her what discipline within the health care profession she was from. She practically bridled and snapped, "I am a qualified disability assessor". I persisted (politely) and said that surely she must have a core profession; what was it? She refused to answer and just repeated, "I am a qualified disability assessor". Lame, catch-all title with no merit or meaning as far as I'm concerned. Why so cagey? The whole think stinks from top to toe. Anyway, I'm not hopeful, but will find out in a few weeks.

The positive thing is that it is over. :)

You should be able to request the report at the end of the week, it will have the assessors name and basic qualifications, you can then look them up on their professional registry if you want.

I was notified by ATOS of my PIP assessors registration number during a phone prior to my appointment (I was able to determine occupational therapist), so you could always give them a call while you wait?

Do they not have to tell you their profession?

The DWP guidance does require this but this only means that they have to indicate whether they are a doctor, nurse, physiotherapist, etc., not what qualifications that they might have in regard to your conditions.
