If we apply for PIP now before the new changes apply from March 16th does this mean we would be assessed under the current old rules?

And then if you are awarded it under old rules now, what happens under PIP reassessment say in a year or two, would the old rules or new rules apply then? Not sure how long PIP is awarded for, before a reassessment?

In principle, if you apply before the 16th then it will be the current Descriptors that are used. A reassessment will use the Descriptors in force at the time.

If this would be a new claim for PIP, then go for it. However, if you currently receive DLA then you should think very carefully before initiating a transfer. To be brutally honest I seen very (very) few members of the forum successfully argue that they meet the criteria set by the UTT Decision. PIP was engineered to be a more difficult benefit to award, so you need to be very sure of your meeting the criteria (in general) to risk an early transfer.

This would be a new claim for PIP, no DLA is being claimed. So what would your advice be in this situation? Does your brutally honest bit still apply?

How do they determine the date of the application, would it have to arrive at their office by the 15th/16h March or what? Not sure how they determine the date.

What length of time is PIP awarded for? So many years? No life awards any more?

The "brutally honest" would apply to new claims as well, but you have no jeopardy as you are not risking a current DLA award.

A claim is considered started when a completed PIP1 is received by the DWP, the initial phone call should result in the DWP being able to complete this on your behalf, so unless there is any follow up information that is required then it should be the date of the phone call.

Most PIP claims are for a fixed period, one to five years and ten years are common, there is also an on-going award which is as close to an indefinite award as PIP gets.

If I requested the PIP forms over the phone would this do, as they would date it? Would want to fill it in myself and not all the details over the phone.

Or should I just download the form and send it in recorded delivery?
