Claiming PIP whilst being a care was created by Xtina
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can advise me. I claim carer's allowance for my daughter as she has Asperger's and Chronic Fatigue, she's on DLA at the moment. I have received a notice that I need to apply for PIP for her.
I am also on DLA at the moment because of long term physical and mental problems. My husband is my carer. Our forms were initially filled in by a lovely CAB lady.
My question is ... when I'm called to apply for PIP will my being my daughters carer go against me on my application.
Kind regards,
Christina

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Christina,
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
It is certainly not unusual for a claimant to be in receipt of both PIP/DLA and also CA. However, it might help head off future problems if, when completing your own PIP forms, you explain how you are able to manage this (for instance, you suffer from physical health problems but are able to give the emotional support and help that someone else needs.)
May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your claim without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too
