Hi Gordan sorry for mithering

I have tried to get my daughter to sit down and do the form with me and she wont and cant cope with dealing with it.

I have had to fill it in but I think I have done it wrong as its basically my view on what way I think she is affected by these descriptors

Such as with regards to awareness of hazards
because of her Epilepsy depression and personality disorder

Amy’s epilepsy would also be a risk if she was to have a seizure alone such as blanking out or fitting when carrying out some tasks as she wouldn’t be aware at the time because mostly she doesn’t know when they are happening, or aware of her surroundings, she forgets what she was doing and can be confused after. Like having a kettle full of hot water and dropping it on her scalding her, chopping vegetables with sharp knife, crossing roads because of traffic and needing someone with her especially in unfamiliar places. she often will forget what she was doing, she has left Items of Electrical equipment plugged in which can be a danger to her and her son such as leaving the hair dryer plugged in on the floor. When trying to cook she has left the Gas cooker rings on a number of times or has forgot things are cooking and burnt pans, so we bought a slow cooker and microwave to help lessen this risk, she forgets to check her doors are locked and left her doors unlocked a few times in the day and night, When cold callers have called has let them in and let them talk her into things because she doesn’t understand the risk of letting strangers in even though we have told her not to. she is not aware of the danger that If having a bath then someone needs to be there in case she had a seizure in the bath even though we have told her, but now she has a shower in her own property and uses this which is safer. Amy sister spends a lot of time with her during the day because of her epilepsy and low mood to ensure she is safe especially when cooking at teatime and we will check on her by phone a number of times over the day and she calls us. I call to check on her a few times a day and check round to ensure everything is safe as we live very near to each other. Amy doesn’t like being watched over or be supervised and accepting it because she is now an adult and since she got her own property, as we have had to do since finding out she had epilepsy to help keep her safe not aware about the risks so as much as possible its her sister who is with her.Amy has been going through a very difficult time in the last few years and because of this her Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and severe depression causes her to get very emotional crying a lot and very angry because she has been going through a very difficult time and being very low in mood not think clearly or concentrate when like this and then acts impulsively because of this drink alcohol even though she shouldn’t drink with her medication Not realising the risk this is with her medication even though we have told her. She is often not able to concentrate on what she is doing because she is very upset and emotional most days and all her thoughts being dominated by her personal circumstances it causes her not to be able to concentrate

There are two issues that you will need to deal with.

First Awareness of Hazard is in the mental health section so to score points the condition that causes problems must also be a mental health one, so this excludes your referring her Epilepsy as being the cause as this is considered to be a physical condition.

This doesn't prevent you from arguing that she is affected, but there will have to be another reasons.

Secondly, to score points for this activity the claimant must be unaware of the hazard involved, so using a cooking example, if she understands that she could start a fire by leaving the gas on, then I would not expect her to score if the reason she leaves it on is because she has forgotten. You need to show that she does not connect the risk of fire with leaving the gas on.

Hi Gordan She has a emotionally unstable personality disorder and severe depression
as well as her epilepsy

she is very forgetful

She has been through a very difficult time and is very depressed daily she also reacts on impulse because of her personality disorder, she gets very emotional and angry and doesn't think clearly and acts impulsively so then gets drunk to cope with the stress not realising the risk with her medication and then can become very unpredicatable and erratic and if she misunderstand you she then ends up getting very angry and can start throwing things and breaking things or punching doors etc She doesn't concentrate and can be unpredicatbale and take risks because of her personality disorder even when not drunk and in this state has no comprehension of how she is being and storm off on her own leaving you in fear in case she goes and hurts herself or gets run over as she storms off and wont answer the phone she will jump out the car no matter where we are

Do I write it like I am her or about her as I am filling it in

I think I have done the whole lot wrong as it my perception of what it is her conditions I cant cope never mind her

As you are writing on her behalf and she seems to have a lack of awareness of her problems or refuses to accept them, then I would write it in the third party "she".

What you have posed seems to be fine in regard to the Awareness of Hazard, just stay away from the Epilepsy for questions 11-17.

One of the most difficult things that someone completing an ESA or PIP form has to deal with is their own or the disabilities of the person that they are writing about. It can be really tough having to stare these things in the face, but know that you will prepare a better form by doing so, so stick with it. :)

Thanks gordan

she gets very emotional and angry and at times like these she is very unpredictable and then gets to the point there is no reasoning with her she just rages so doesn't think clearly and then as a result will start abusing you and screaming or self harm and then runs off.

She cant cope because she has been in a violent relationship then let her ex have contact and he refused to return him as She discovered he had been cheating on top of the abuse told him bring her son back it was over for good and because she refused to go back to him he wouldn't bring her son back she then didn't see him for 47 days until we went to court dealing with social workers solicitors and mental health she would get very emotional and break down and then storm out and it was a year of court and then she was unpredictable and erratic by the time it came to the end and then lost full custody even though he has been done for violence and 26 other crimes of varying degrees the judge believed her but the social workers report went against her so he got main custody and now she only sees her son 2 days and with a Borderline personality disorder this is the worst thing to happen she only got diagnosed in this relationship and was because of all the abuse she was suffering which we didn't know anyway I will try to rewrite it and will have to do the same for the rest I cant believe it I had a feeling I was doing it wrong
