I too have just received my invitation for PIP from DLA and my new mobility car has been ordered and due 4 April. I rang mobility and they said I had two options. One was to go ahead with the car and see what the PIP outcome was as long as I was aware that the car may have to be returned. Two was the option of putting the collection of the new car on hold and extending the lease of the old car. I decided on getting the new car but this would be your choice to make.
Hope this helps

It seems that there is some inconsistency with the advice given by Motability.
I had placed my order for new car, having been in receipt of high rate DLA indefinitely. A week after the order was placed I received the letter inviting me to apply for PIP as my DLA would be ending. On informing Motability that I was going through the DLA to PIP conversion, they told me that I was no longer eligible to receive the new car, as I now did not have an ongoing award of DLA or PIP, but they extended the lease on the car I already have. Currently I am waiting for a decision following assessment. In Limbo!

Received same info as PC.If your going through the DLA to PIP conversion or asked if you wish to you are automatically not eligible for new vehicle until such time you receive a decision on PIP.When you receive and invite to convert from DLA to PIP it's your responsibility to inform Motobilityt.Info is in all their Lifestyle mags and their websites

I am convinced that DWP are aware of dates that Motability leases are nearing the end of the term, and are inviting those in receipt of indefinite DLA mobility to apply for PIP 3 months before end of the 3 year lease term. My DLA to PIP conversion letter was sent to me dated exactly 3 months to the day before the end of the Motability car lease. By 'coincidence' this was also the first date I was able to place the new car order. The DWP letter was delayed in Christmas post. I would not have put the car dealership through the inconvenience of the order process had I known. The current situation is the car dealer has a car, tailor made to my requirements, I have an older car, which no longer meets my needs and I struggle to be able to drive., and which now needs to be serviced. That shiny new motor may never be mine to use. Trying to remain positive, though.

I think the main thing to consider is that to order a Motability car you must have at least 12 months remaining of a higher mobility award for either DLA or PIP. I did have that with my indefinite DLA award, when I placed the order, but as soon as the conversion invitation arrived and I noticed the date of the letter, I informed the Motability helpline right away. I did not want to put myself in a position of being deemed to have made a fraudulent order. Though I could not have been aware the conversion letter was on its way, I wasn't going to take that chance. Motability decided not to allow the transaction to go ahead, though I suppose I could have argued, with them, I chose not to.
