PIP Mandatory Reconsideration - long wait for repl

Hello there. My adult son has severe mental illness. I helped him from afar with his DLA to PIP form and subsequent reconsideration. He did not have to go for a Face to Face as they said that he had sent sufficient information (I helped him gather good evidence from various people).

His lower rate mobility component was removed, and although he was kept on the same rate of Daily Living, he was only one point below the Higher Rate, and the evidence sent clearly indicated that he should be on the Higher Rate. His social worker backed this up with a new letter for the Reconsideration, along with a letter from him which I helped him to draft, pointing out the evidence they had missed.

He sent this off in mid December and it's now nearly mid March which is 3 months! I rang to check for him a month ago to ensure that they did receive it (they did). This seems a VERY long wait. Is it possible that they are awaiting the final outcome of the recent changes re the components in PIP before sending the decision to him?

Hi Mermaid and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

There is no time frame within which DWP must complete the MR process - although your son has waitied rather longer than usual.

Your MP might be able to aim a large boot at the corporate posterior to get things moving

Thank you Mrs HB. I will ask my son if he is happy to get the MP involved. Unfortunately he lives in a different county to me, but I could write the letter for him and send it to him to sign if he is happy to send it.
