I'm married and claiming for my wife so claiming as a couple, I recently got PIP high rate on both and my wife has them also due to her terminal illness.
What I really don't understand is why I have been told of this increase one month before my 64th Birthday, I would understand the changes if it was on my 65th birthday
Thank you for any guidence you can offer.
Regards
Graham.

It's just a coincidence, there are no increases to ESA that are timed to a claimants birthday.

redgt9 wrote: Thank you Gordon for your answer, I don't think I have explained it right sorry. I was told the increase might be pension credit the increase is something like £69.60 pw and as I said it starts in July but my 64 Birthday is in August one month before to the date. Again Gordon thank you.
If it is for Pension Credit and not ESA then it makes some sense.
Claimants entitled to ESA(IR) can switch to Pension Credit, the date they can do this for a man is the same age as woman born on the same day would reach State Retirement Age. A quick check for a woman born 1 August 1953 shows that they would retire on 6 July 2017, which seems ties in with your comment about a month before your own birthday.
