Hi, i had a quick look at the FAQ under the work programme but i trust its okay to post this query..
i was successful in my ESA re-assessment in that i was again placed in the work-related activity group...
on the same day i received a letter asking me to attend the jobcentre plus for a wrok programme referral interview..
during this i asked if we could have a discussion about what would be helpful, what would keep me supported rather than backsliding, but they weren't interested..it was mandatory...what are the implications of this, in respect of what i'm expected to do and what i can decline, please?
i am actually starting to be a part of undertaking a study for the charity MIND which looks at assessing what the community needs in terms mental health support...this is quite interestign to me and its an 18 month, ongoing programme. how does that stand me in stead for taking part in useful activities?
i'm also doing other course through a local place run by MIND...these are all on my terms and are useful for me.
i'm anxious that the work programme will pull this out from under me....i found that this is the last month whereby ESA people will be referred to the work programme...if this is so are they being extra pushy to try to get figures up before referral ends? ..do i have any grounds for non-compliance..am i obliged and what might happen if i don't attend the work programme..thankyou for your time i know its a few questions here...thanks also for your serivce here on the website x

I'm afraid if you have been referred to the Work Programme then there is no way to avoid it while you remain in the WRAG. Activities can be mandatory and your benefit can be sanctioned if you fail to comply.

The only advice I can offer is to be as upfront as you can with your WP advisor about your limitations and be prepared to stand up to them if they are not taking your problems into account when assigning activities.
