PIP - MR ??? was created by jack2121
Hi, following recent Home assessment for pip my wife has been awarded Enhanced daily living, but only 4 points for mobility. Previously on DLA - HRC / LRM past 25 years. The award says they will contact us after 2027 which is really great news. However we are not really happy with the 4 points mobility and thinking of MR. I understand this may or may not be revised and there is a risk attached, they have however accepted and documented the severity of her conditions and the 10yr award proves this, so I assume the risk is small. Already asked for the report and also asked several consultants for help & have appointment booked with CAB. If we ask for MR do we risk the length of the award? Not having to go through any of this for the next 10yrs does in some way compensate the loss of Mobility. However not fighting for it implies we agree, which we do not. My wife was awarded a Blue badge some 8/10 yrs ago after passing a medical examination (local authority) details of which we included in the pip2 form, so we don’t accept the findings of a nurse sat at a pc. The badge is up for renewal soon and we fear losing it as a result of loss of mobility via pip.
Will make firm decision about MR once we have spoken to CAB. Also does the fact that the claim/assessment took place in FEB 17 prior to the changes mean than an MR can only use the laws from then?
Have battled the system many times now including 3 or 4 appeals. Never one to give up but 10 years is a long time and the peace will be bliss compared to what we have been through over the years. Please…. What`s your thoughts? Thank you.

In principle an MR would be carried out on the original Descriptors, but be aware if she has been given 4 points for Descriptor (b) of the Going Out activity then the corresponding higher Descriptor is (e) which is concerned with your wife being able to undertake a journey, these two Descriptors were unaffected by the changes.

The criteria for a Blue Badge is not the same as that for PIP, if she qualified for one under her DLA LRM award then there is no reasons to assume that she cannot still qualify.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
