We have no regional statistics, best guess 4-6 weeks.

My wife suffers from SLE a few times a month she gets a scleritis flare up which means she has blurry vision and flare up can last days and drops must be applied to the eyes. Now the question is under such a flare up obviously her ability to plan journey is impaired, as she cannot see properly and her eyes are light sensitive and she wears sun glasses, which descriptor applies 13c oor 13d? One is 8 points the 10 points. During a flare up she needs me to plan a journey but when their is no flare up she can plan it herself. The problem is these descriptors are very set and fast and sickness is not as we well know. So its hard to know how to apply it to the descriptors. Any advice would be appreciated as we are struggling how to answer this and get it across.

Hi franny,

I have merged your two topics relating to your wife's PIP as we ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one place :)

Don't forget that the claimant must be unable to meet the descriptor on the majority of days in order to score any points.

If the limitation is present on the majority of days but varies in severity, you should explain how things are on good days, average days and bad days and state what proportion/number of days these apply. The PIP guide explains this in more detail.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your wife's PIP without having to start a new topic each time. As I said, we ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

@Bertie1958......So in essence you had to appeal ? And bring a consultants report your saying?? I know about Hughes syndrome its called after Prof Hughes his head of Lupus unit at St Thomas Hospital, met him once. His work is know the world over as you probably know, goes to show the uphill battle we face convincing these Philistines of auto immune diseases. Thanks for the info
