New points system and PIP reviews. was created by greenfield
Hi, I have two questions. Why does the PIP self scoring system on this site not show the changes to the daily living scores. I have recently sent off my PIP review form with no change to all the questions. In my original PIP I scored 13 points, giving me an enhanced daily living award. Ive realised that the points scoring system has now changed, leaving me with 11 points. Ive looked on the site, and I may be wrong, but there doesn't seem to be any warning for subscribers to be aware of this when they send off their review forms. I feel I may gain more points on another activity, so now I am actually hoping for a new assessment! Have you found any other subscribers having this happen to them when reviewing their awards.
Thankyou, Mrs J.

I checked the test yesterday (Saturday) and it has the changes to the Descriptors included.

Did you lose the two points due to the change in definition of Therapy.

To be honest, I would expect members to be aware of the changes, announcements have proved to be very ineffectual in the past, members simply don't read them.

If you have had an assessment then you won't get another one unless that assessor fails to produce the report or it is deemed to be so poor that a new one is required.

Hi, thankyou for your reply!
The changes are from January 2017, one point for managing toilet needs, and one point for dressing and undressing. They used to score 2 points each. I'm pretty sure this hasn't been changed on the quick test.
My review is currently with ATOS, I haven't been called for an assessment yet. I could potentially score one more point for therapy, I only have one on this at the moment.
Do you know of anyone else who has lost an award through these changes?
No sites seem to have these new point scores anywhere. Plecase correct me if Ive misunderstood. It's very worrying!

Hi, after some more research, I am worrying about this for nothing...the changes to Pip scores for daily living never went through!
They were trying to change the scores for aids and appliances, but it never happened.
I'll let you know what happens with my review form anyway.
Thanks!

The new regulations came into force on 16 March and will affect new claims made from that date onwards, as well as review decisions made from that date onwards.

In general current claimants should not be affected.

However, if you have an award where psychological distress was taken into account to give you points for descriptors (c), (d) or (f) in relation to planning and following a journey, then you may be affected when your award is reviewed.

However, as the Social security Advisory Committee have already pointed out when claimants have multiple difficulties with following a journey, it may be impossible to “strip out the element of psychological distress from other factors when making a decision. As a result it may well be that it is not consistently treated in these circumstances.”

In other words, the newly drafted regulations are going to be very hard to apply consistently and the courts are bound to be involved in defining how the new regulations should be interpreted.

So, it’s much too soon to say whether and how any individual might be affected. The best thing to do at this stage is to make sure you keep yourself updated about any changes in the law and, if you do lose out, consider an appeal.
