HI I was wondering if any of you have had a letter from the DHP Discretionary Housing Payment (DHP) is an extra payment to help people who claim housing benefit.

As well arthritis is quite debilitating and painful I also have to care for my husband who also have Parkinson, and from time to time I really would love to get a full nights sleep,

So this year I applied for DHP.. Today I got this letter from my local council, really think they have a real check to ask such a silly question, 1 I never said I sleep in a seprate
rate bed all the time so who are they to ask such a silly and I might say if we were to have to get 2 single bed and new bedding I might as well just pay the god dame Bedroom tax thoughts anyone ?

LETTER FROM LOCAL COUNCIL

Information I need for your Housing Benefit/ Council Tax Support
Thank you for telling me about a change in your circumstances. I need more information from you
before I can make a decision.
Please supply the following as soon as possible:
• From 1st April 2017 the Housing Benefit regulations are changing and it might be possible to
allow an extra room rate for couples that are unable to share a bed for medical reasons.
• Please confirm whether your bedroom is big enough to have two single beds in.
• If it isn't possible please confirm why.
You need to provide this by 23/04/2017 at the very latest or your Housing Benefit may be
suspended and your Council Tax Support may end.
The quickest and easiest way to do this is online at www.XXXXXXX.uk/proof
Please make sure any scanned\photographic images are clear and can be easily read.
If you haven't got access to the Internet you can do this in writing to the address below.
Yours sincerely,
On behalf of

We don't deal with HB on the forum but hopefully some members will have knowledge of this and can help you.
