Hi there . I'm a newbie to this having only just joined , I have my pip assessment coming up on the 13th of April , most of my problems are mental but I do suffer badly from vertigo and possibly mienieres disease according to my GP i also suffer badly from tinnitus which has made me quite deaf , this all causes me to have mobility problems , I can get very dizzy if I stand up to fast but the vertigo can kick in at any time making me feel dizzy and in need of support because of this I use a walking stick but I only need it when the vertigo kicks in which can vary from once or twice per week to once per month on really bad attacks I need to lay down almost instantly but they would only happen maybe once monthly , my question is should I take my walking stick to my assessment ? I don't want the assessor to think I'm putting an act on if I'm having a good day but I may well need it , I just don't know.

Don't think that you need to do anything special or unusual for the assessment, so if you would usually use a stick when out then take one with you.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi again . When I attend my assessment what should I do if I'm having a good day ! My assessment is at 3:30 which is probably the time of day I'm at my best , I had help from a lady in a CAB office to fill my form in and she completed the form early in the morning during a really bad day , she advised me to attend the assessment and imagine I was having one of my worst days . I'm now worried , everything she put down is true just not 24/7, she ticked the always box option so it indicates I'm always really bad . I didnt question it because she s a professional and I had not a clue to be honest , also she did see me in the morning time when I'm always bad . My mental health is poor iv been passed over from someone who deals with mild to moderate mental problems to someone who deals with severe, my vertigo has worsened recently it seems to hit me hardest when I'm under stress ,my BP is sky high but if I remember to take my medication it's not too bad.

I would answer based on how you are the majority of the time (not necessarily how you are on the day) and then, if the assessor allows it, explain how you are when you are at your worst and then how you are at your best and how often you are affected in these ways.

The PIP Claim guide has a section at the back that covers the assessment process and the questions you are likely to be asked.

Hello again . I'm struggling to find my way around the site but will keep trying , can I ask about traveling to my assessment and taking company with me? I'm a very private person and there is not a single person I know well who knows all that is wrong with me and I prefer to keep it that way , is it ok if I just have someone leave me at the door of the assessment centre and wait for me to take me home ? And if yes how should I answer the question on How did I get here .

Yes you can have someone take you to the assessment and then leave them in reception or outside while you have your interview.

As to how you got there, just explain how you did :)
