When I completed my form I put my health problems down in list form.

Going over what I put down, I can see that I have not covered some of the things that are wrong with me. I have memory problems and was distressed completing the form as I had a chest infection for three weeks prior and had only 4 days left to complete.

I rushed it. I just spoke about the more serious health issues that affect daily living and mobility and things like Menieres which only trouble me from time to time, although bad when it does, also Dupytren’s Contracture in palm of right hand, night sweats and tremors. I did not mention anyof these. Or that I need help with Tens machine.

I feel utterly stupid. This is so important and I just panicked to get the form off in the post.

What can I do about not putting everything down? Its all in my medical history, but my GP has said Atos has not requested my History.

Should I mention this at my assessment?

Should I wait to get a report from my GP just in case I need to obtain a MR?

I was reading some articles online where people who have bad hands and poor grip, have lost points, as the assessor has said if you can drive and grip the wheel, then your hands are ok.

I have arthritis in both thumb joints several fingers and right wrist, with swelling and poor grip for lifting things out of oven, pans etc., But I can drive ok, but not for any length of time.

Is this a descriptor we are going to lose points on?

You can write a letter covering the additional information and take it with you to any face to face assessment, ask the assessor to read it and include it in your file when they return it to the DWP.

I would also send a copy directly to the DWP, marked for the attention of the Decision Maker, The address should be on the letters you have received about your PIP claim from the DWP.

Driving will allow those assessing you to make assumptions about your capabilities, in particular your hands and grip, all you can do is explain how you manage to hold a driving wheel and change gear with problems in your hands. A considerable portion of this will be down to your explaining the differences in how you hold a steering wheel versus a pan or a knife, the grips would be very different and being able to do one does not imply you can do the other.

What do you think about obtaining a report from my GP?

I was thinking if Atos have not asked for it, should I wait?

The consultants letters I have sent are not current neither are my MRI's

My GP was the only one I put as a contactable source

See if they will help or not, if they will then there is a GP Notes document in the PIP area that may help.
