Hi Greg,

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I'm sorry that your daughter's DLA claim was refused :(

You have 1 month, from the date on the decision letter, in which to submit a Mandatory Reconsideration request to DLA. You should send this to the address on the letter.

You need to re-iterate how and why your daughter qualifies for the benefit and point to any evidence you have already sent in support. If you have any further evidence you should send that in too.

Have a look at our DLA guide as that explains the qualification criteria and also gives suggestions of how to phrase things in terms that DWP understand.

I must warn you that there is a low rate of MRs overturning the original decision (although it certainly does happen) but it is a stage you must go through before you can appeal.

Your other option would be to reapply. This might be a particularly good idea if you feel that you could have made a better job of the initial application (this is not meant as a criticism).

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your daughter's DLA without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)

Hi again Greg,

There is no need to post your query multiple times. There will always be a delay before any post is published as everyone is read and approved by a moderator first. Even when the forum is officially 'open' this can take time depending on how many (voluntary) mods are on duty and how busy we are.

I have deleted your duplicate post so that all replies are kept in one place for you.
