PIP change in mobility was created by Elizabeth Greenwood
I was awarded the standard mobility component of PIP 2 years ago. I now have more limited mobility and cannot walk more than 20 metres without stopping due to pain. I have had to purchase a mobility scooter and a stair lift. How do I try for the higher rate of the mobility component please?

Hi and Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If you believe you can show that 1) your condition has deteriorated since the last decision and 2) that you now meet the criteria for the Enhanced mobility award you should write to DWP and tell them about your change of circumstances.

I must warn you that this is most likely to trigger a complete reassessment of your whole claim (not just the mobility element). This will probably include another PIP2 form to complete and possibly a face2face assessment.

I suggest you have a good look at our PIP guide to make sure that you really understand the criteria against which you will be measured.

May I suggest that you bookmark/favourite this on your web browser now so that you can find it easily in future? This will allow you to return with further questions or comments about your PIP without having to start a new topic each time. We ask members to keep everything relating to the same claim in one topic as it helps us enormously - and I hope you will find it useful too :)
