:(
Our grandson who is now 18 has just had his pip taken away from him after 2nd pip assessment.

We only knew about this when the money put into his account was low, and phoned dwp.

No letter or anything, just told they use 2nd class post but you only have 4 weeks from date of that letter to submit proof.

We finally received the letter and copy of assessment report Friday 31st but letter dated 22nd March giving hardly anytime to get anything to pip decision department.

Our grandson is staying with us at the moment because his mum and family moved to wales to be nearer us due to her cancer.

He was staemented in 2003 and throughout his life was on high rate dla both care and mobility.

When he was first changed over to pip from dla he was dropped to standard rate care only, he had a home assessor at the old family home then and an extremely rude assessor did this.

His review came up february and the form explained how he struggles with his disability. The report shows that the assessor had no real understanding of asd claimants, it says she was or is a paramedic, while she was pleasant the result was not.

We need to submit medical and other evidence for a mandatory reconsideration and are at a loss to what we can get, we have his support needs from his education foundation in his old college and are going to speak with the gp tomorrow as they have only known him 6 months due to the move. His old surgery have said they can provide his new gp notes, but this is not going to happen within the dwp time limit and we dont know what to do.
He probably can get support from his old educational places but easter holidays is also going to ensure this cannot be gathered and sent in time.

Has anyone got any advice please, this is so wrong and our grandson does not understand what is going on or to his thinking what he has done wrong,

The most important thing is to get an MR request submitted to the DWP within one month of the date of the Decision, you can tell them that you will be submitting additional information and they should allow a further four weeks for you to do this.

Have a look at our PIP MR & Appeal guide for details of the process, the PIP area also has template letters that you can use to make the request with.

www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip

You should contact the DWP for a copy of the assessment report if you have not already done so, I would phone them but again follow up the request in writing. Once you have the assessment report you will have a better understanding of how the DWP Decision Maker has come to their conclusions and will then be able to argue against them.

Your primary task is to show that you meet the criteria, there are many reasons you may have failed, you need to address each of these but don't get bogged down in criticising the assessment report unless you can clearly show that it is incorrect, it is a lot easier to argue the facts of the situation;

"the assessor recorded that I walked 50m, I did but they have failed to document that I had to stop every 10m for a rest due to breathlessness"

than their opinions

"based on my observations of the claimant walking I believe that they can reliably walk more than 200m.

When you have a better idea of the issues with your claim, come back to the forum and we will do our best to help.
