I think it probably best if I treat the pip/esa as seperate entitiesthen Gordon....

I took an online test from this site and it gave a sensory question, but it appears not to be in this esa50 form?

In relation to question 7, he has ok sight and hearing
and probably takes in what is conveyed to him but how he interprets what is conveyed is altogether different, inform him of a danger and he will ignore/disregard or becomes muddled (and then brcomes visibly agitated but how that is relevant to that question if it's simple can he hear/read ...

Or is it me that has interpreted the question incorrectly?

Both questions 7 and 8 refer to "sensory impairment".

Question 7 is about understanding a simple message, this has two components; receiving the message and interpreting it. So even if he has no problems with receiving the message, he can still score points if he is unable to interpret it, providing that the reason he is unable to do so is a physical condition.

Questions 1-10 can only score points for a physical condition and 11-17 for a mental health one.

I worry re the form that the questions are not wholly relevant to his illnesses, I am absolutely petrified that my answers will fail whatever criteria it is the dwp set for support group.

Simply put my partner is both a danger to himself and a significant danger to those that he perceives as a threat and as his mental illness has progressed and his health deteriorates where everyone is the enemy.. well this will be my undoing if i get this form, he won't understand the decision made for him, he certainly wont comply and I will then be seen as his enemy and that really will be it.

Gordon,

Because I do not understand what you mean, I want to clarify what I understand from your statement below:

This is a full reassessment of your partner's claim and he/you need to complete this new ESA50 in detail (as a new claim) and provide any evidence that you have available even if you have submitted it before.

Do you mean that claimant should complete the new ESA50 just like a claimant would complete a new claim or a first claim?

Or do you mean that the ESA50 is viewed by DWP to be a new claim, despite the claimant being in receipt of ESA when the reassessment form is sent?

Thanks!

Although ESA is an indefinite award all claims should expect to be reassessed at any time after three months have elapsed from the date of the previous Decision up to a maximum of two years for the WRAG and three years for the Support Group.

Please use the latest ESA Claim guides as there have been updates to the ESA Descriptors, Regulations and Guidance in the last four years.

Have a look at the section in the Guides on Substantial Risk.
