DLA TO PIP was created by Martin
Dear 'Forum Members' My brother (Aspergers/ Compulsive OCD/ Socially Phobic) is currently receiving EAS and the middle income DLA. This has been the case for some time now. I'm pretty sure that he would receive more income on PIP. My questions are A) Will he be automatically 'converted' to PIP or B) Should I start a fresh IP claim for him? I am a little confused tbh, but also do not wish to upset the apple cart. Any advice gratefully received please

I've moved your post to it's own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.

All DLA claimants who were under the age of 65 on 8 April 2013 will be invited to claim PIP at some time over the next few years, claimants are being chosen at random so there is no way to identify when a particular person will be contacted.

Claimants can self-select to claim PIP but you would need to have a very good understanding of the PIP criteria before you did this. PIP was designed to be a more difficult benefit to award and a significant number of DLA claimants have seen reduced award or even had their awards removed.

I would start by having a read of our PIP claim guide on the following link and if you have any questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
