Question regarding disability premiums. was created by Donna2512
Had a phone call today from Carers Allowance section regarding disability premiums. It has apparently been triggered by ds losing DLA/PIP and subsequently my losing Carers Allowance.

It was somewhat confusing as the phone call didn't tell me much more than they had sent two forms out for me to complete regarding premiums. I think they said one for a disabled child and one for a carer and the date I needed to fill in was February 2006.

Anyway totally confused by all this and was wondering if anyone has any insight into what premiums they are talking about and could I possibly be owed some money do you suppose?

We are away at present anyway so won't see the forms for a week now but curious as to why they have been sent in the first place.

The last time you posted you were in the process of requesting an MR in regard to the failed PIP claim, unless things have changed then I would expect you all to lose money, not receive more.

I'm afraid I can't shed any light on what the form are for.

Agreed. expected lose all payments and so wasn't expecting to hear from Carers Allowance at all and was worried when they called because I thought it was regarding the Mandatory Reconsideration.
I imagine time will tell, will return their forms anyway, the date they said referred to a renewal of DLA for our son but has no other significance.
Not expecting any payment more hoping that we haven't been overpaid (such is our luck of late) as eleven years would amount to a fortune even for a small sum weekly.
Definitely don't want to face repayments considering we have lost £200 pw already.

The DLA should remain in payment for four weeks after the date of the PIP Decision which means that the CA should as well, and both are paid in arrears so there should be no reason for an over payment.

Thank you that is reassuring then. I was flustered because I thought it was going to be regarding PIP (which I'd half expected) and didn't ask the right questions at the time. They were so insistent that I put the dates they said on the forms that I was mentally memorising that and not really listening to them other than hearing premiums and confirming the date that Carers Allowance ended.
I'm sure it will turn out fine,I'm pretty certain we haven't been overpaid and can't imagine we have been underpaid either especially not for eleven years anyway as surely there are reviews in place.
Will update though in case I have any information that could be useful.

Just thought I'd update now I know more. The forms are regarding an underpayment of carers allowance premiums for dependants (spouse and children) dating back eleven years.
Apparently at the time of the claim I did complete the necessary forms but it wasn't actioned at their end and I was unaware of any entitlement meaning a substantial underpayment. No idea of course whether we will receive any or all of the underpayment but have returned the forms and marriage licence as required.
Don't imagine we will be issued the whole amount as it is thousands of pounds but even a little of it would be most welcome.
