PIP claim form question was created by Maria Powell
Hi all, I'm filling in a PIP claim form for my husband who is at the moment in receipt of both higher rates of DLA, I'm just the guides from B&W but am finding all very overwhelming but will press on, I'm stuck on one of the questions (and it's not far into the claim form) it's question Q3a Do you need to use an aid or appliance to prepare or cook and simple meat. my husband does not prepare or cook meals as he would be a danger to himself as he had chronic Arthritis in hands, wrists, neck, shoulder joint on one side also in his knee's that give way without any warning, he is in chronic pain all the time as well, so how do I answer this question, no amount of aids or appliances would make him able to cook or prepare a meal for a start it hasn't got the strength in his hands or wrist to enable him to chop food or lift pans and it would be dangerous for him to try. thanks

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

If you find the tick boxes restrictive then mark then as "see below" and provide an answer in the comments box or attached pages.

In regard to this question, if there are no aids or appliances that would help him prepare and cook a meal then you must explain why this is the case, there is a list of aids considered by the DWP listed in the Claim guide for each activity.
