PIP refused, bizarre comments was created by pianofish
My decision arrived on Saturday and as I suspected I got 0 points for everything. I will be ringing them in the morning to request the assessor's report and putting in for an MR as soon as my wife and I have ripped the report to shreds (metaphorically), though even the very brief decision maker summary had a couple of particularly ridiculous assertions (edited highlights from the usual "you are lying about everything blah blah.")

The first was that I could prepare food, take nutrition, wash and dress independently because "the assessor noted you were dressed appropriately and appeared adequately nourished and well kempt" - I said both on the form and during the assessment that my wife assists me with all these tasks, she was sat next to me so it's not like they can claim she doesn't exist. I remember I was wearing my pyjamas and dressing gown during the assessment (it was at my house, at least 2 hours before I am usually up and dressed) so I was hardly dressed to the nines.

Another was "no grip restrictions were noted." I have absolutely no idea what that has to do with anything as I never said I had any physical issues with that, and also the assessor did not at any point ask me to grip or pick up anything. This at least seems handy for challenging the reliability of the report as it both didn't happen (as my recording/transcript of the assessment shows) and is irrelevant.

The bit that really annoyed me, possibly more than it should, is that on the front page it says "I can't award you PIP for etc. etc." No, you can, but you have chosen not to. It feels like the decision maker trying to absolve themselves of responsibility, like "sorry I would love to but it's out of my hands." Maybe they phrase it like that so they can sleep at night, I don't know.

I am sorry you were refused PIP :(

The PIP guide talks you through the MR process. Please reply to this message if you have any questions and we will do our best to help.

Got the assessor's report today - someone from the DWP rang me on Tuesday to ask if I'd had it yet after asking on 24th April, I hadn't so they sent me out another copy on Tuesday. It seems they can get it there in less than 2 weeks (what I was originally told) if they want to.

The couple of sentences on the decision letter are pretty much what the assessor has copied and pasted for every single question for both care and mobility. Some questions have one sentence relating to the activity in question (not including "I therefore decree Fish is talking out of his arse" at the end of each) but it's mostly a c+p job, which will probably make it easier to challenge as he's just said exactly the same thing 8 times.

What do the following abbreviations mean: FH, HOC, FE, SOH, IO ? The report doesn't say.

Thank you. Also do the assessors need to specify what/how further evidence is relevant to a question? The various letters are listed on the front but the only reference to them anywhere in the report says "FE do[es] not report conditions likely to cause cognitive or intellectual restrictions" (copied and pasted for every question) - it says nothing about the actual content of the evidence I submitted.

Fish

There should be a list of the extra information available but they do not need to link it to a specific question.
