How does it work? was created by Twinkle
If the DWP award you Pip but not at the rate you feel is right and you request a Mandatory Reconsideration -

1. Does the DWP immediately start paying you Pip at the rate they've deciced upon or do they not pay you anything until your award's been reconsidered?

Thank you. :)

Hi Twinkle,

The DWP will pay the rate for the level they have awarded and this will continue until/unless a new decision is made.

Thank you.
I thought that they might not pay you anything whilst you were challenging the decision via MR - is it the same if you appeal?

Yes, it is the same if you go to appeal. You would only be paid nothing if the decision had been made to give neither element of PIP.
