PIP re-assessment was created by philologus
Hello everyone.
My daughter (28) had her PIP reduced at the last assessment but her condition(s) have deteriorated since then and she has, finally - after 28 years not having one, had a diagnosis of one of her problems which shows that she has been previously misdiagnosed and has been given the wrong treatments for most of her life.

She moved house and got a new Doctor who has really helped her a lot with her physical and mental problems and wrote a supporting letter for her ESA renewal which was so good that, for the first time ever (roll on the drums please) she got it without having to go through an appeal!!!

How do we go about asking for a re-assessment based on the above?
I think I'm right in saying that we can't make a new application until the current one ends.
Any and all suggestions welcome...

You can report a Change of Circumstances by writing to the DWP office dealing with her claim, this will result in a full review of her claim, new PIP2 and face to face assessment.

Thank you Gordon. Quick and useful answer - as always.

I realise that she puts everything at risk by doing this, but the new GP is very supportive and, I'm sure, will make a considerable difference.

In our previous applications we have only been able to refer to one of her most serious issues as a "bowel problem" and this rather wooly term has not impressed the DWP very much so we have had to appeal every time we have claimed either ESA or DLA/PIP. Once the Doctor on the appeal panel asks about her problem we always end up winning.

We now have a definite diagnosis of Slow Transit Constipation (STC) (previously known as neuronal intestinal dysplasia (NID) and this will make a big difference.
I put this in in case anyone else is in the same position and wants to Google STC.

We are also considering seeing a solicitor about the fact that she was misdiagnosed and given treatment that made things worse.
Thank you again.
George.

The key thing you need to consider is whether she can score the extra points for a higher award? As an example; if she scored 8 points and you think that she can score an additional 2 points then you would need to seriously consider whether notifying the DWP is worth it.

Also, you still need to defend the existing points.

My thinking exactly. I've looked at those things and I'm writing to her GP to see what level of support we can expect.
One of the problems is that my daughter is constantly suicidal and is self-harming. She is afraid of losing her home because of not getting the higher level for Care that she used to get. Her partner works full-time so they don't get Housing Benefit.
She is also a "shut in" because of her fear of going out on her own. Extra cash would mean extra fuel for her partner's car which would mean a much better social life for her and less time on her own thinking wrong thoughts.
George.

You/she can't compare a DLA HRC award to a PIP one, HRC was awarded for fundamentally different reasons from PIP.

Pursue the matter because you think that she should score the 12 points not because she had HRC. :)
