PIP Assessment was created by hannahsmiles
Just a quick note to tell you how happy I was to join this group and to let you know that, with the help and advice on this site, I 'passed' my first PIP assessment. I recently received my letter telling my I will receive the higher rate until 2027! Wow, I'll be 66!

Your help and advice articles were invaluable and I felt I was much better informed and prepared for the assessment. I did get asked the 'friendly' questions like 'oh, your hair looks lovely, do you go to a salon?' kind of asking whether I would be nervous/anxious in a salon, showing whether I was able to interact with strangers, would I be able to sit for long periods of time. I do actually have my hair done at home for the aforementioned reasons. Was also casually asked 'Do you watch t.v.?' 'Did you see Eastenders last night?' seeing whether I can focus on and remember lengthy plots etc.

Even tho' the assessor was quite blunt and didn't smile once I just felt really prepared for the appointment and was able to tell her ALL about how Transverse Myelitis affects my activities of daily living. However, because of her brusqueness, I was doubtful when I left the assessment and waited anxiously for my letter, resigned to the fact that I might have to appeal. However, the dreaded letter duly arrived within about 10 days and as I said earlier, I was awarded the higher rates!

So don't despair peeps :) Take care of yourselves.
