Circumstances for home visit? was created by Polli
Has anyone else experienced this ?
On my PIP FORM my daughter had written that we would like a home visit.
She called ATOS to see what was happening with the form as she spoke to my doctor the week before and she said there was no word from Atos requesting my medical records as evidence.
Atos the following day called my doctors and asked a receptionist if I attend my appointments and she said yes and gave brief dates of when I visited my surgery (which is 5 min from my home) the following day I received a letter saying assessment at medical centre at some point in future.
I called my doctor and she was not happy about this or the receptionist giving this information as she does not know what we discuss over the phone or in the doctors office etc
She immediately wrote a letter up stating I need a home visit as to travel would be detrimental and really set me back pain wise etc ...and it was sent to dwp and Atos the following day . Atos called back again wanting to do another review over the phone as to which my daughter replied no as it was only done 5 days previously over the phone.
Anyway sorry for the rant , asked them why have they have not even asked my doctor for a medical report instead of speaking to a receptionist in the surgery. Despicable to use her information to make such an important decision. Still waiting to hear the outcome ???
They told my daughter if it is refused again I cannot ask for it to be looked at again.

It's not unusual for the Assessment Provider to ask about whether the claimant attends GP or hospital appointments, they have a very black and white view of being attend, basically if you can leave the house then you are perfectly OK to attend an appointment 90 minutes away.

Hopefully your GP letter will result in a home assessment being offered but if not then you can try involving your MP.

I'm afraid the decision lies with ATOS.

Polli,
If you have mobility difficulties it might be worth mentioning to them that you would be unable to evacuate the building independently in the event of an emergency.
Hopefully your gp's letter will have the desired result.

Best wishes,
Grace

Thanks Grace I do have mobility issues and all this is mentioned in the form and my doctors letter.
I had a home visit a few years ago from the same company for Dla and didn't have to go through all this.
Hopefully it gets sorted.
