TOPIC: ESA Appeal Hearing Timescales?

ESA Appeal Hearing Timescales? 7 years 2 weeks ago #13050

Hi, new here.
Please can someone give me an idea of how long it takes to get a date for an ESA appeal hearing? Sent form requesting one to the Tribunals Service on 14th October 2009. Have requested an 'attendance' hearing rather than a paper one.

Hi,

When you say you sent a form to the Tribunal Service requesting an oral hearing, was this the questionnaire that asks you about whether you want to withdraw your appeal, whether you have a rep, whether you need an interpreter etc. rather than the GL24 appeal form.

If it was the former then there's nothing to stop you ringing your regional Tribunals Service office and just asking very politely how long it's likely to be before your hearing is listed.

They should be able to give you a rough idea of how many weeks or months it will be.

Good luck,

Steve

Thanks for your (prompt) reply!

This was my reply to the short questionnaire from the Tribunals Service.

I will phone them; although I just wondered what other people were experiencing in terms of timescales - I recently spoke with someone here (in South West England) who had to wait 9 months for a hearing.

On a personal note, I am appalled at a system that puts people on trial for being ill, penalizing the honest majority for the actions of a fraudulent minority. Why can't they take other things, such as previous working history into account when making decisions? There has to be a better way...

Hi

When I got my 0 points decision, I rang the helpline and they told me how to appeal. They also told me the wait time for an appeal in my area (Waltham Forest, London) is currently running at 5-6 months.

Hope this helps.

Hi

I spoke to my local office (Southampton) on Monday and they've told me that it can take anything up to 6 months to review my appeal but that I will continue to be paid on a fortnightly basis.
