TOPIC: Disabled Person Working Tax Credit and Savings

Disabled Person Working Tax Credit and Savings 7 years 1 week ago #13283

Can someone advise me, is there is a limit on the amount of Savings or Investment a person getting Disabled Person Working Tax Credit can have. My son works part-time, he gets the DLA Higher Rate Care and the Higher rate Disability Premium for Tax Credits. Is there any restriction on personal savings he can have, similar to Income Support/Housing Benefit etc.
He is single and resides along with my wife and I.He does not get any other DWP allowances.
Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Not to clued up on the inner workings of the tax system but you may glean some information from here:-
Direct Gov

the section How your disability benefits are taken into account may help.

In addition I would be inclined to telephone the friendly and helpful people at Revenue & Customs and ask the if they could clarify the questions you have.

Working tax credits and child tax credits are based on income, not savings; pension credits and savings credits are based on both income and savings.

Your local CAB can do a quick calculation as to how much he would be entitled to.
