sorry another question .. on my renewal form i havent put that i self medicate with alcohol because i didnt know at the tiem i had a problem with alcohol until a week agos when i was taken to A&e due to my behaviour and alcohol. but i havent put this on my ESA50 questionnaire will it cause problem if i mention this at the medical ?

although it is jsut over a week i havent had a drink because my partner refuse to buy it anymore as since i took a glass i cannot stop until well i fall asleep.
sorry for the contant question ....
Hi Courgette:)

If I were in your shoes I would mention it at your medical. The fact that were taken to casuality indicates that you have a problem with alcohol tolerence.

Do make a note of the time and date you were taken to casualty and offer it as evidence so they can make a note of it.

Once I accompanied a sick lady doctor on holiday. I was her companion. We were seated separatley on the plane going and so I didn't notice that she was drinking alcochol. To cut a long story short she became very disturbed in her behaviour and incoherent. At first i thought she had had a stroke. We discovered it was the combination of alcohol and anti-depressents. We had to return home, taking 3 different flights!

With Best Wishes

Sorry if I sound nosey, but have you made your GP aware that you take alcohol.
If not, then as a former staff nurse you should do so without delay.

Alcohol is not medication, in fact it triggers the release of dopamine - a chemical which produces feelings of satisfaction.

It also increases the production of the brain's natural painkiller - endorphin - which scientists think could be the means by which the brain becomes trained to crave.

If you're on any prescription medicine, it can also seriously interact with certain drugs and make you very ill, or put your life in danger.

nno pata so far my gp is aware of me drinking alcohol but i have kino of lie about my actual consumption of alcohol to them. However i am due a my monthly visit in 2 weeks times . to be honest my gpo is out of her depth with me , she felt that she cannot really help me as she said my problem are complex.

i am in the process of asking for help with social services in regard to support workers, etc.. ... well my partner is asking for this.

I am very worried that i will failed tmedical as i know myself i can go weither way such pretty full or completly emotionally detached from everything when i am stress

Hi Courgette

You sound very poorly indeed. What from you've said I think it is most unlikely that you'll be considered fit for work.

I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry about this.

At the end of the day all employers want people who are fit to work, not people who are going off sick all the time. They have enough problems with their current staff sickness without taking on someone who is clearly not well enough to work.

Things will work themselves out . They usually do.

i just had my medical it didnt started well as i had a panic attack whiel waitign and burst into tears because due to my agarophobia and the stress . i was early and i had towait 20 minutes with a room full of people.

the gp was nice so the receptionist and i am glad that my carer was there as lot of question i wouldn't have been able to answer myself. she read to us what she had type onto the computer so we could change or add things. she todl me that she wsas glad that we gave a lot of infos in our ESA 50 questionnaire .

the downside she questioned the effectineveness of my medication but without any psychological treatment the med can only go so far. the medical last for just over 1 hour when she todl us that we could go home and she had all info she need from us . i didnt have any work focused assessment interview. she never ask any questin about my alcohol comsumption.

now hopefully the decision maker will keep going my claim.
