Hi I have recently had a medical for esa purposes and have scored 0 points, I am appealing against the decision based on the medical. Can anyone tell me if everybody has the work focused interview? because if I had one I wasn't aware of it.I have had to stop doing a job I loved because of my ilness and I am told to claim job seekers, if I was able to work I would be happy to.

Yes you have 6 pathways to work interviews and they are mandatory. If you don't go your benefit can be sanctioned (the money reduced). Look at the members news section for information on the pitfalls of being too enthusiastic in them.

The rationale behind them is they should happen to people in the work-focussed group who may not be well enough yet to work but will be eventually. If that was how they worked in practise I'm sure it would make more sense.

Hope this helps.
