TOPIC: Income Support Review Form

Income Support Review Form 6 years 11 months ago #14195

Hi all,

I am one of the lucky ones I guess. I have just managed to buy my own house under the shared ownership scheme with help from a charity. We are applying for Income Support Mortgage Interest to pay off the mortgage and also I have had to move out of rented accommodation. I have been on Income Support due to disability for about twenty years now.

I was told that my DLA (highest rate for personal care and low rate for mobility) was for an indeterminate period about ten years ago and it has never been reviewed since then. (My condition actually got worse hence the re-housing).

Now I have received something called a Review Claim Form for Income Support (A2 10/08. On the face of it it seems straightforward as my Income Support circumstances and amount will change because of the ISMI applied for. However could you tell me if I should watch out? Could this be a way of reassessing me as to my suitability for employment? Strangely enough it only says that if I have a partner they may need to attend a work-focused interview with a personal adviser. (I do not have a partner). So I would seem to be OK.

They have also told me to complete the form after I have moved to the new property. Is this correct?

Many thanks,

Avalon

Hi Avalon,

This a standard postal form to make sure that you are getting the right amount of Income Support and has been sent because you've applied for ISMI.

It won't be used for any other purpose other than calculate your IS.

As far as I'm aware, it's normal practice to tell you to complete the form after you've moved.

Hope this helps.

Hi Avalon,

I sensed that you were very worried, and I didn't want you to be so over the New Year, so glad I've put your mind at rest :)

We're having a quiet one, whatever you're doing, all the best and a Happy New Year in your new home, when you move.

Best wishes.

Jim

Sorry to hijack the thread but I'm curious now. If I'm able to buy a portion of a Housing Association property (in the future) Can I still claim Housing Benefit for the remaining rent that will be owed each month? Sorry and Thank you for any advice.

wow, and hello - this is all very new to me and I would love more information.

I am in receipt of HIGH C/HIGH M. indeffinately and havve been for around 10 + years , and both my sons are in receipt of DLA HIGH/LOW and MED/LOW

however all that aside what caught my eye was the shared ownership mortgage that I didnt think I could ask for as I am on benefits but then I noticed that you mentioned Income Support mortgage. I didn't know it existed - can you please tell me more and point me in the right direction - thank you very much
