TOPIC: Housing Benefit - Change of circumstances

Housing Benefit - Change of circumstances 6 years 11 months ago #14237

I am just filling in Housing Benefit form. I got married abroad some 6 months ago and my wife has been granted Entry Clearance Visa in December. She is about to come and live with me here in the flat in a couple of weeks time.
My question is- do I have to inform Housing Benefit that I have a partner now, who lives abroad, and is about to join me here soon. Or- do I have to wait, until my wife arrives, and than report the change of circumstances. Thank you for your fast reply. It is very urgent and I will appreciate if somebody answers my question as soon as posible.

Although Housing Benefit is beyond the remit of the forum, your question involves a change of circumstances which could pertain to disability benefits.

I would suggest that you inform the local authority precisely the circumstances you have detailed in this post, and therefore this will let the LA know that your wife intends to join you in the near future, which may or may not have an effect on the outcome of your HB claim?

Thank you for you fast reply. I am going to submit my Housing Benefit claim tomorrow and I will let them know. (I will do the same for my IB claim, which I am going to post).
My only worry is that they might ask for her National Insurance number, proof of income, and for her signature on the form.
I can hardly provide none of these. And consequently, I worry that they might reject my claim.
Thank you for your answer, anyway. I always get some help at this forum which is helpful.
