TOPIC: Work Focused Interview

Work Focused Interview 6 years 10 months ago #14716

I am in receipt of IB and higher level (mobility) lower level (care)DLA because of chronic osteoarthritis, scoliosis I have suffered TIA's, due to arthritis in my neck and recently diagnosed with Vertibro Basilar Insufficiency. I have been summoned at very short notice to attend a Work Focused Interview. What is this? Also, I know that these interviews take place on the first floor of my local Job Centre. This was not mentioned in the letter and I cannot climb the stairs. How should I proceed?

Hi,

As an IB claimant you do have to attend the WFI, but it is entirely upto you if you wish to take up anything offered or said.

Re the interview being on the 1st floor, the DWP do have to make reasonable adjustments. So if there is no lift etc, you can ask for it to be held on the ground floor (they should have alternative facilities or lifts etc for those in wheelchairs or those who cannot climb stairs for some reason). It might be useful to let them know in advance so they are aware.

Regards

Pete
