On incapacity Benefit with review coming up was created by Susanne Marie
Hi My question is I am on Incapacity benefit and DLA I have ME and a related condition call POTS (Postural orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) the later course unpredictable blackouts, anyway I am due for my Incapacity Benefit to be reviewed in July and needless to say I am really worried about this, dose anybody know if I will automatically be put onto the new ESA or can i ask to stay on the IB for as long as possible?

Hi,

Although conversion from incapacity benefits to ESA will begin with a small pilot in October 2010, full scale conversion will not commence until February 2011 and is intended to finish in March 2014, except for claimants receiving national insurance credits only.

Full details on moving off IB to ESA were in the members newsletter Forced move to ESA – your transfer date revealed

However, there has to be a General Election in May, so much will depend on which party is elected, or if we have a 'hung' Parliament.

Hope this helps.
